Trip to the Beach

Ah, the Charms of Ireland . . .

We arrived in Ireland the next morning around 6. We slept the entire trip across the Irish Sea. But it was much needed sleep. Gas was still pretty steep in Ireland, even though the exchange rate was a bit better than the UK! Nick wanted to go to a little town called Kilkenny, so we set a course for there. Along the way we were entranced by the lovely Irish countryside and the very narrow roads! Oh yeah, we had to drive on the other side of the road and the driver sat on the other side of the car! The driving was an experience all its own! I think we had more arguments about driving than anything else. Whoever was driving would get to close to the passenger's side of the road, and then the passenger would freak out about hitting something with the mirror, etc! All in all, we learned to stay quiet and pray!

A little town we happened upon and Nick tried new things with his camera.

When we got to Kilkenny we found a campsite and put up our tent and went to sleep! We slept all day, went into town for some dinner and a leisurely stroll, and then went back to sleep!

The next day we headed west to the far west coast of Ireland and the Cliffs of Mohr! Wow, what an amazing site! Like the Grand Canyon, words and pictures just don't do justice! From there, we headed north toward Galway and then northeast toward Belfast.

Cliffs of Mohr

The road from the cliffs to Galway was seriously only wide enough for one car, but there was a line down the middle and I got the distinguished privilege of driving on this road! It was pretty stressful!

Trying to look excited about driving

While I drove, Nick took pictures of almost every pile of ruins he saw, and for anyone that's been to Ireland, you know that there are a lot of ruins scattered around the country! But it kept his focus off my driving!

When we had driven as far north as we could that night, we camped by a lake with sheep and cows baaing and mooing in the surrounding fields! It was pretty cool!
